Who knew face washing was so complicated or error prone. Here are a list of the Top 10 Mistakes You're Making When Washing Your Face 😟🤭😓

Mistake #1: Forgetting to wash your face before bed


I don't think I even need to tell you why this is a mistake, but if the breakouts aren’t enough, dirt and makeup trapped in your skin leads to a breakdown of the skin’s barrier and prematurely ages your face. AGES YOUR FACE!!

Mistake #2: Skipping the A.M. cleanse


Germs from your pillowcase can move to your face as you sleep. But even if you wash your pillowcases often, bacteria from your saliva and oils from your hair are easily transferred to your face.

Mistake #3: Water is too hot


Hot water can cause dilation of blood vessels and breakage of delicate tissue. The hot water naturally strips the skin of the necessary oil barrier that helps maintain its integrity.

Mistake #4: Using your face cleanser to remove makeup


OK, this is important because I know many people don’t think it to be true. If you're using a good skincare regimen, you should always take your makeup off before using the first step in your regimen. You want your skincare actually penetrating clean skin and not polluted by makeup.

Mistake #5: Using the wrong skincare for your skin type


There's no single magic ingredient or miracle product for skin. Choose a skincare regimen that addresses your own personal concerns, needs and goals for your skin. Certain ingredients may not be suited for you and your skin.

Mistake #6: Reusing dirty washcloths 🤢


Reusing the same washcloths only spreads more bacteria and mold to your face. Hello breakouts!?! Easy remedy- pick up a set of inexpensive white wash cloths that will last for a week.

Again, 🤢 more bacteria and mold!

Mistake #8: Washing too often


Washing too much can lead to dry, irritated skin, but it can also cause your skin to produce too much oil. If you didn’t wear makeup, work up a sweat, or use heavy sunscreen, stick to twice a day.

Mistake #9: Using a bar of soap to wash your face


The binders that hold bars of soap together naturally have a higher pH than products that are formulated specifically for cleansing the face, so they will have a drying effect on the skin.

Mistake #10: Not washing for the right amount of time


30 to 60 seconds is long enough to break down oils and makeup.

The skin undergoes its repair and restore process at night, so the cleaner your skin, the better the process can happen, because yes...beauty sleep really is a thing. 😘
